Mentorship is a way for experienced people to guide those with dreams and ambitions. It builds confidence, strengthens leadership skills, and helps individuals navigate both personal and professional challenges.
For women and girls in Imo State, the Reaching Forward Mentorship Program, organized yesterday, 29th March, 2025, by my foundation, the Goodhope Women’s Initiative - GHWI, at Sam Mbakwe Hall, Rockview Hotel, Owerri, turned hope into action. I had the honour of moderating the first edition of this program, where accomplished women from different fields: law, business, education, and public service, shared their experiences. Our panelists included H.E. Chief Lady (Barr.) Chioma Ohakim, mni, former First Lady of Imo State; Mrs. Chinelo Emeghara, Esq., Clerk/Head of Legislative Service, Imo State House of Assembly; Princess (Barr.) Lulu Njoko, DSCN, MD, Priceless Stores; Mrs. Kelechukwu Onwuchekwa, Regional Manager, UBA; Hon. Justice Chinemerem Onuegbu, Judge, Customary Court of Appeal; Princess Gloria Akobundu, CEO of De-Nexus and former CEO of AUDA-NEPAD; Mrs. Uche Kennedy-Ibeh, Proprietress, White Label Schools; Mrs. Ebere Udeze, an Expert in the Maritime Industry and Director of Royal Renacido Consult Limited; Dr. Chioma Obinna-Egu, Specialist Family Physician; and Mrs. Ijeoma Ndukwe, a Business Growth Strategist and the CEO of Bubez Foods.
We shared our personal journeys: the struggles, early marriages, career challenges, and eventual successes, offering valuable lessons to inspire the next generation. As the growth of one woman elevates us all, through mentorship, we are planting seeds of excellence that will blossom into a brighter, more equitable future.
