Yesterday, March 25, 2025, I joined my sisters, the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) State Coordinators, to welcome the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, on her two-day working visit to Delta State. The First Lady flagged off the presentation of 10,000 professional kits (Crocs and scrubs) to midwives in the South-South zone, an initiative complementing the Federal Government’s retraining of 120,000 frontline health workers, with 60,000 branded scrubs and Crocs provided as incentives. In her address, she reassured Nigerians of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration’s commitment to improving the nation and ensuring a better life for its citizens. She also commended the midwives and the entire health workforce, recognizing their crucial role in reducing maternal and child mortality in Nigeria. Additionally, she announced a ₦50 million Business Re-capitalization Grant for 1,000 petty traders in the State, with the Governor pledging to match this by supporting another 1,000 petty traders. Similarly, the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Food Outreach Scheme for the South-South zone was launched by the Wife of the Vice President and RHI Vice Chairman, Her Excellency Hajiya Nana Shettima, featuring donations of food items to vulnerable groups.
