The Imo State Government, through my office, the State Ministry of Health, Primary Health, Social Services, and Health Insurance (IMPHSSHI), and the Imo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ISPHCDA), in collaboration with the Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage (IMPACT) World Bank-Assisted Program, hosted a one-day Local Government Area (LGA) Stakeholders Engagement Meeting.
The meeting, held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at McDon Skye Hotel, Owerri, focused on strengthening primary healthcare, improving immunization coverage, and enhancing maternal health services under the IMPACT Project. During the event, Stakeholders were sensitized on the upcoming introduction of the Measles and Rubella Vaccination in October 2024, which I am championing. They were informed of their roles in promoting immunization and other public health services. LGA Chairmen were urged to support their wives in stepping down the sensitization process after the State-level campaign, which I will lead.
In attendance were the Honourable Commissioner for Health (Primary Health, Social Services, and Health Insurance), Dr. Success Prosper-Ohayagha; the Executive Secretary, Imo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency-ISPHCDA, Rev. Sr. Dr. Maria-Joannes Uzoma; and Local Government Chairmen, led by the ALGON Chairman, Imo State, and Oru West Local Government Council Chairman, Engr. Ikenna Anthony Adikibe. Also present were traditional rulers, led by HRH Eze Lucky Okoro PhD, Secretary of the Imo Council of Traditional Rulers, representing HRM Eze E. C. Okeke, CFR, Eze Imo; members of the IMPACT team; representatives from the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA); and other key Stakeholders in the health sector.
