The First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, who is on a three-day working visit to Kwara State, yesterday, flagged off the distribution of 10,000 professional kits to midwives across each geopolitical zone in Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Health Programme.

The distribution of 60,000 scrubs and 60,000 Crocs to midwives began with the North Central zone. This initiative aims to enhance maternal and neonatal care across the Federation, ensuring better healthcare outcomes for mothers and newborns. It also supports the 120,000 frontline health workers being retrained by the Federal Government, with 54,346 already trained. Each geopolitical zone will receive 10,000 scrubs and 10,000 Crocs, which will be distributed among states in their respective zones. The kits were officially handed over to Governors' wives and RHI State Coordinators.

In her remarks at the event, the First Lady emphasized that skill and compassion alone are not enough; health workers also need the right tools and infrastructure. She acknowledged an anonymous global donor supporting maternal and infant health in Nigeria, whom she first met at the 2023 UNGA and later at the 2024 AU Summit.

I also joined Her Excellency, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, CON, as she commissioned major infrastructure projects, including the General Babatunde Idiagbon Flyover in Tanke and the Ibrahim Zulu Gambari Flyover. We toured the State's innovative projects, such as the Ilorin Innovation Hub and Sugar Factory Film Studio, and witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Hospital, Ilorin.
