What a joyous way to usher in the promise of 2025! I had the pleasure of visiting the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital Owerri to share in the bliss of new motherhood, congratulating the mothers who welcomed their precious little ones into the world. Represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Nkechinyere Ugwu UNJP, we could not miss the chance to meet the very first baby of the year; Miss Annie Somtochukwu Chizzi Ikechukwu, who was delivered at 7:03 a.m. in the hospital. I shared in the joy of the mother by presenting her with a gift of financial support, along with an assortment of essential postnatal care materials.

The joy did not stop there, as every mother's journey is worthy of celebration and support. We made our way through the maternity wards, visiting other mothers who had also welcomed their bundles of joy. Each of the women received financial assistance and a carefully selected package of postnatal supplies. May these babies grow to be the leaders and changemakers of tomorrow, and may their mothers find strength and joy in their journey of parenthood. #HappyNewYear
