"Immanuel, Our Restorer of Hope" was the theme of the 2024 Nine Lessons and Carols Service hosted by The First Lady of Nigeria, H.E. Sen. (Dr.) Oluremi Tinubu, CON, on 16th December 2024 and held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja. The gathering attracted notable Nigerians and religious leaders, featuring scripture readings by distinguished personalities including former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon (retd.), Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike. Other readers included the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Olanipekun Olukoyede, and the First Lady of Nigeria, Sen. (Dr.) Oluremi Tinubu, CON, who delivered the eighth lesson.
In his sermon titled "Let Brotherly Love Continue," the Vice President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Baba Payan, called on Christians to embody the spirit of love that defines the season. He emphasized the importance of compassion and kindness in a world often marked by division, urging congregants to reach out to those less fortunate during the festive season.
The service was also attended by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Head of Service of the Federation Didi Walson-Jack, cabinet ministers, former First Lady Patience Jonathan, traditional rulers, security chiefs, and members of the diplomatic corps, among others.
