I warmly welcomed back to Imo State our children, daughters, and sisters; three young ladies from Ghana and one from Ebonyi, who had unfortunately fallen victim to human traffickers. They were received on my behalf by Hon. Nkechinyere Ugwu UNJP, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare. They shared their horrific experiences, but thankfully, they are now free and on the path to healing. I reminded them that we have all made mistakes and fallen short in one way or another. However, it is how we learn from those mistakes that truly matters. I encouraged them to seize this second chance, reclaim their destiny, and not let their past experiences define their future.
The joy of reuniting these young women with their families after counseling and medical checks was truly heartwarming. My office helped to support them through this journey, covering all necessary treatment and counseling expenses. This year, Imo State Government through my office and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, has successfully reunited over 50 individuals with their families. Seeing the smiles on family members' faces during these reunions brings joy, especially during this yuletide season. I wish these young ladies all the best as they embark on this new chapter in their lives.
