The Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), at its 36th Convocation Ceremony on December 7, 2024, conferred its highest academic honour, Honoris Causa, upon three distinguished personalities: the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON; my husband, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON; and the Governor of Borno State, His Excellency Professor Babagana Umara Zulum mni, CON. This honour recognizes their exceptional contributions to the development of education, the Nation, and humanity.

While the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, and my husband, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma, were awarded the honorary Doctorate of Management (D.Mgt, Honoris Causa), H.E. Professor Babagana Umaru Zulum, CON, mni, was conferred with the honorary Doctorate of Technology (D.Tech, Honoris Causa).

In her acceptance remarks, the First Lady dedicated the award to the girl child, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing national interests. She noted, "Nigerians will reap what they invest in Nigeria." Additionally, she highlighted her earlier donation of ₦50 million as an endowment for the best female graduating student, reiterating the need to support and empower the girl child.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the honourees. Your transformative services to our Nation have made a significant impact, and your achievements are truly worth celebrating.
