Today marks Cervical Cancer Elimination Day of Action 2024. Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable and treatable forms of cancer if detected early, yet it continues to affect and claim the lives of women worldwide. This day serves as a reminder of the global effort to eradicate cervical cancer as a public health threat.
Effective tools exist to combat cervical cancer: HPV vaccination, screening, and treatment. However, barriers persist, including lack of awareness, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, and limited access to screening and treatment services. As First Ladies Against Cancer (FLAC), we reaffirm our commitment to eliminating cervical cancer. We call on governments, healthcare providers, civil society organizations, and individuals to join forces in this effort.
Together, we can create a cervical cancer-free future.
