We attended the commissioning of the newly asphalted 3.1-kilometer runway at the Wilberforce Chuba Okadigbo International and Cargo Airport, Onueke, Ebonyi State, performed by the First Lady of Nigeria, H.E. Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON.

The inauguration was part of the grand finale of the 2024 Ebonyi Women’s Day Celebration, themed “Uplifting Women for Sustainable Development,” held in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, on November 15, 2024. The First Lady of Nigeria, who served as the Special Guest of Honour, noted that the airport’s operations would enhance economic growth in the State. She also commended the host Governor, H.E. Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for successfully completing this project.

The First Lady of Ebonyi State, Chief Mrs. Mary-Maudline Ogbonna Nwifuru, hosted the celebration, which centered on empowering women and improving their livelihoods. A key highlight was the distribution of one million naira in grants to support women's businesses.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including the wife of the Vice President, H.E. Hajiya Nana Shettima; the Governor of Ebonyi State, H.E. Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru; and 23 members of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum (NGSF).
