We bade farewell to a pan-Nigerian, an iconic Igbo leader, and an illustrious son of Imo State, Chief Sir Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, MFR, OFR, CFR, yesterday, 1st November 2024, at his country home in Atta Ikeduru, Imo State. As President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Sir Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu's dedication to the Igbo people, Nigeria's unity, and the pursuit of justice and equality transcended regional and ethnic boundaries. His commitment to a united and prosperous Nigeria was evident in every action he took, and his influence in Imo State was both profound and far-reaching. His legacy as a colossus in industry, sports, politics, and community leadership will forever be etched in history.
Beyond his public persona, Chief Sir Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was a man of deep compassion, boundless generosity, and unparalleled humility. He had a unique ability to make each person feel seen, heard, and valued, and his philanthropic spirit touched countless lives. For those of us fortunate to have been close to him, his passing is not just the loss of a national icon but the loss of a personal guiding light.
As we honour his memory, let us reflect on the incredible legacy he left behind; a legacy not just of public service but of love, humility, and commitment to the betterment of society.
Rest in peace, dear Chief Sir Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu MFR, OFR, CFR (Aha Eji Aga Mba Ndigbo). Your legacy will remain forever in our hearts, and you will be surely missed.
