Today is World Water Day! This year's theme is "Valuing Water".

We are raising awareness on the importance of water in our everyday lives

Water is essential to life for humans, animals and the ecosystem generally, as the earth comprises of 70% water. Water is paramount to a sustainable future. It sits at the nexus of agriculture, food security, human health, economic development, climate stability and peace in the World.

In the celebration of the day, we are reminded of the need to place the necessary value on water, minimize water wastage and ensure the protection of our sources of water and the water bodies from pollution.

Today also, in respect to our health and wellbeing, we are enjoined to drink water regularly.

Again, water should never be a luxury. With the efforts of Governments at all levels and and individual arrangements, we should ensure that clean and portable water is available and more accessible to our people, especially in this era of the outbreak of the Coronavirus when water is highly needed for the necessary hygiene to avoid the further spread of the virus.
