Imo women made a bold statement of unity and strength at the Grand Finale of the August Meeting in Owerri on September 13, 2024, embodying the inspiring theme 'Nwanyi di ike' (A Strong Woman) which resonated deeply, celebrating their invaluable contributions in shaping our society. We honoured our heritage, culture, and indomitable spirit that enable us to rise above challenges.

We made great progress by empowering 1,575 women in various categories, reaffirming our commitment to creating opportunities for all. Subsequently, we will empower 135 SMEs, support 655 rural cooperatives and 345 interest groups, and distribute cassava stems, potato seedlings, and maize seeds along with ₦50,000 cash to 1,000 rural farmers. Additionally, petty traders in rural communities across the 305 wards will receive ₦50,000 each in financial assistance.

Special thanks to the First Ladies of Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ebonyi, and Bayelsa for gracing the event and to the Imo State Government, led by my darling husband, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma CON, for their unflinching support.

As we conclude this year’s celebration, we look ahead with renewed hope, knowing that together, we can achieve greatness.
