World Hepatitis Day, observed annually on July 28, aims to increase global awareness of hepatitis—a group of infectious diseases including hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E—and to promote prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Hepatitis poses significant health risks to communities, often leading to liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, and even death if left untreated.

This year’s theme, “It’s time to take action,” underscores the urgency of addressing this health crisis. The GoodHope Flourish Foundation - GHFF, in collaboration with partners, has made substantial progress in combating viral hepatitis in Imo State. A recent milestone was the launch of the Hepatitis C Elimination and Hepatitis B Control Program at the Imo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency-ISPHCDA in Owerri. Our vision is a hepatitis-free Imo State where residents can live without fear of these preventable and treatable diseases.
