International Women’s Day (IWD), 2021

Today is International Women’s Day (IWD), 2021. A day earmarked for the celebration and recognition of the progress we have made in the society towards gender equality, women empowerment, and all the social, economic, cultural, political and sundry achievements of women.

I felicitate with my fellow women, all over the world and in Imo State, in particular on the occasion of the #IWD2021.

We must encourage the efforts made by women and girls around the world to shape a more equal future and recovery from the economic realities of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has further increased the inequality gap.

In line with this year's campaign theme - #ChooseToChallenge, I align myself with the activities of other activists, leaders, opinion-moulders to build an equal future for every Nigerian woman where all forms of biases, stereotypes, discriminations are totally diminished. We are urged to encourage more people to commit to the onerous task of building an inclusive world for everyone.

I urge all of us, Governments at all levels, NGOs, CSOs, rights groups, others, to support advocacies, policies and activities that would lead to the attainment of this year's global theme: "Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world."

I choose to challenge the status-quos!
