WORLD CANCER DAY!
This international awareness day, observed annually every 4th of February, was founded by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to support the World Cancer Declaration in 2008, whose primary goal is to significantly reduce illness and death caused by cancer.
Today's campaign is celebrated with the theme “I Am and I Will,” a reminder that each one of us can play a role in reducing the impact of cancer.
At this auspicious occasion, I sympathise with persons suffering from cancer, in its various categories.
Recognizing the unique challenges confronting the world due to COVID-19, World Cancer Day 2021 is dedicated to the courage and achievements of people living with cancer and their families.
I salute all the medical staff who today, account for over half of the global health workforce and other frontline health workers for their resilience and labour of love.
We should all take it as a matter of duty to ensure early diagnosis, prompt treatment and providing care at the earliest possible stage. This will result in more cancer survivors.
