The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs And Vulnerable Group, Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu led a team from the lmo State Government to visit the Community Secondary School Okigwe in Okigwe Local Government in Commemoration of the 2023 Children's Day celebration and Menstrual Hygiene Sensitization tour.
Having informed the teachers and students of the Government’s commitment to marking a month-long Children's Day and Menstrual Hygiene Day, the team congratulated the school on their academic prowess, discussed the benefits of always being clean, especially during their menstrual flow and further introduced the students to the use of reusable pads.
The principal of the school, Mrs Anayo Anaiche and her staff, Ms Ugochukwu Rejoice Chizaram, welcomed the team, shared their gratitude and assisted in the distribution of refreshments and reusable pads to students.
This initiative not only addresses an important aspect of female health but also helps foster a sense of inclusivity, education, and celebration. By promoting awareness, we encourage our girls as they go through a positive and healthy natural bodily process.
