Our continued scheduled visits to various secondary schools in Imo State , in commemoration of the global Children's Day celebration and World Menstrual Hygiene Day, is necessary to draw consciousness on the issues and challenges affecting children. I remain optimistic that our action towards educating and supporting the girl child will encourage their confidence as they go about their education.

On June 3, 2023, the Honourable Commissioner for WAVG, Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu together with other Ministry staff, visited Girls Secondary School Akwakuma, Owerri. Hon. Ugwu disseminated vital information on proper menstrual hygiene management. Refreshments, snacks, and adequate reusable pads were shared to the students to last at least a year.

The Principal, Mrs. Nwokolo Loretta Ihuoma expressed her gratitude for the collaboration and selection of their school as recipients of this kind gesture.
