Yesterday, I was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, Hon. Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu at the maiden edition of the Federal Polytechnic Women Association (FEPNOWA) August Meeting held within the school premises in Owerri.
The event’s theme, “CAREER WOMAN AND PROPER PARENTING: CHALLENGES With PROSPECTS,” highlighted the challenges and opportunities faced by career women in managing both parenting and their chosen jobs. The reminder to rely on one another was the most crucial subject covered during the event. Women’s organizations are like a chain, and they can only advance if they continue to link.
The President of FEPNOWA, Dr. (Mrs.) Raymond N. Obioha and Guest Speaker, Pastor (Mrs.) Evelyn Nwankwo, further challenged the in-attendance parents to limit screen time and invest more time in their children’s appropriate upbringing. They further stated that Implementing these measures would set off a domino effect that directs society’s progress in the right direction.
The Rector of the Institution, Engr. (Dr.) Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa, his wife, Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) Joan Arimanwa, the Deputy Rector, C.C. Onyemenonu, the School Provost, Directors and employees, members of Hope Uzodimma Women Support Group, and a host of other dignitaries were present.
Highlight of the event was the cake unveiling, presentation of awards and a souvenir presentation to me, which was received by Hon. Ugwu.
I want to sincerely commend women groups and organizations that are actively organizing 2022 August Meetings in their communities. I pray that God Almighty would continue to fortify, strengthen and bless you all.
H.E. Chief Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma Uzodimma First Lady, Imo State and Founder, GoodHope Flourish Foundation.
