In marking Army Day Celebration, the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) Humanitarian Outreach Program allotted medical equipment to Obinze Military Hospital, food items to the NAOWA Nursery/Primary School, office supplies to its staff members as well as other gift items to widows on July 5, 2022, in Imo State.
The commemorative event which was held at Obinze Nursery and Primary School, Owerri had in attendance, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hon. Dr. Princess Rabiu Ibrahim MON, the SA to the Governor on SDGs, Hon. Christina Ude, the Wife of Major Gen. in charge of Nigerian Army School, Mrs. Mary Sinjen, the Wife of Major Gen. Chief of the Logistics Army, Mrs. Ufoamaka Akintade, and many others were present.
The Zonal Co-ordinator of NAOWA, 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze, Mrs. Ummukhultum Sulaiman and the National President of NAOWA, Mrs. Salamatu Farouk Yahaya, who was represented by Mrs. Appolonia Ezugwu both pointed out that the outreach was part of the activities of the NAOWA to reassure and support the families of the fallen heroes.
My representative, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Group, Hon. Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu after handing out 1200 bags of rice and financial assistance sent by the Imo State Government @govtofimostate to the widows, reassured them that the commitment of the 3R Administration to cater for them has and will not be broken. All women empowerment programs carried out within the State have always been inclusive of the wives of the fallen heroes.
I commend NAOWA for fulfilling its mandate and all the work they have been doing to assist these widows. May God continue to uphold and reward you all. Amen.
