The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, Hon. Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu represented my office yesterday in reaching out to the Imo Angels Football Club, Owerri, to encourage them through gifts and words for their talent, time and dedication in their vocation.

Over the past months, I have seen how hard the ladies have been working and I am extremely impressed by their perseverance in this field for a better future for themselves. Their determination has protected them from societal ills and I encourage more women to join this club to have a community of women constantly improving themselves.

I commend the CEO of the Football Club, Ms Jennifer Anusiem and the Captain of the Club, Ms. Patra Oparanmegwa, for their collective vision to empower the girl child through football and create a platform for them to display their passion and hopefully move to the next level.
