A few months ago, the Ogun State Government rescued six young Imo State citizens, who had been forced into sex trafficking by dubious sponsors. Upon my request, the victims paid a visit to my office today, so I could see how they had been faring.

The young girls I met with narrated a lot of heartbreaking stories of how in their bid to make ends meet, they were misled by their friends and captured by a Mrs. Florence Ogbonna. Unfortunately, during the cause of their time in captivity, some were sold, some died, and others contracted deadly diseases. The more I listened to the young girls talk, the more my heart ached.

In these perilous times, it is crucial that every parent must make enquires about their kid’s whereabouts regardless of their age. Nevertheless, I know that despite the ugly experiences they have gone through, things can and will be better for them. Therefore, my office will continue to assist these girls until they are able to start up something for themselves.

I look forward to seeing them heal and become great individuals in our society.
