Earlier today, I had the pleasure of delivering a Goodwill Message via Zoom Webinar at the 2nd Annual Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (@NBAWomenForum) in Celebration of the 2022 International Women's Day.
Day One of this year's first physical conference themed, “The Invisible Hand of Gender Bias: Championing Collective Change”, had the opening remarks given by the President, NBA - Mr. Olumide A. Akpata ably represented by the General Secretary of the NBA, Mrs. Joyce Oduah, FICMC, while Prof. Oluyemisi Bamgbose, SAN, Chairperson, NBA Women Forum, delivered the welcome address.
The event then kicked off with motivating speeches by the First Lady of Taraba State, H.E. Barr. Anna Ishaku, and the Deputy Governor, Ogun State, H.E. Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako- Oyedele. They both encouraged the audience about the need to keep fighting for their rights, seizing opportunities, and creating more spaces where the voices of our women can be heard across the country.
Amid the minor progress it seems like the world is having in the gender war space, the panel sessions held today, involving various panelists ranging from SANs, Professors, and Lawyers from across the world, were a timely reminder that there is still so much bias and we have to keep addressing every form we face until we can completely #BreakTheBias for good. There has never been a more important time to shine the spotlight on the stereotypes women face in society than now.
I look forward to joining in on the rest of the panel sessions scheduled for tomorrow as well as in the future which the forum hopes to create.
The remarkable event had brief entertainment during sessions which made the conference more relaxing and informative.
I applaud the organizers of this conference for a great engagement.
