On behalf of my office, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, Hon. Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu, paid a visit to the respective homes of members of the Nigerian Legion who were too sick or immobilized to attend the 2022 Celebration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Imo.

Hon. Ugwu was accompanied by the Director of Child Department, MWAVG, Mr. Ben Amaefula, the Chairman of Nigerian Legion, Imo State/Zonal Chairman, South East, Comrade Alphonsus Anyanwu, other legion members and some MWAVG staff.

Cash gifts and bags of foodstuff were allotted to the Armed Forces Legionnaires namely; WO Peterson Ihenacho from Ngor Okpala, S/Sgt. Simon Eke from Ahiazu Mbaise and Sgt. Agim George from Ehime Mbano.

The selfless sacrifices they have made in defending Imo people and Nigerians at large will always be acknowledged and remembered. I wish all the recovering soldiers quick recovery and pray for divine protection for their families.
