A few weeks ago, the Ogun State Government rescued six young girls who had been forced into sex trafficking by dubious sponsors. Today, the Imo State Government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups through the help of some Imo sons and daughters, reunited all the rescued young ladies to their families in Imo State. A thorough investigation was also conducted by the Ministry to ensure those claiming to be relatives of the girls were genuine family members.

My heartfelt thanks go out to everyone, especially His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Honorable Commissioner for Women Affairs, Imo State, Hon. Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu and the Honorable Commissioner for Women Affairs, Ogun State, Hon. Mrs. Funmi Efuape, who went above and beyond to make sure all of the girls were safely returned home. My office will continue to check on the girls to ensure they are fully rehabilitated into society.
