On November 23rd, the first International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Imo Week 2021 themed: WOMEN AS ENDANGERED SPECIES: FACTOR FACTION, “PRACTICABILITY OF VAPP LAW.” was held in Owerri. During the occasion, my representative, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu, had the pleasure of meeting some of the most confident and outstanding female lawyers in the State.
As a Lawyer, I know the women in my field have to work twice as hard to be commended, therefore the idea to showcase the photographs of past Leaders of FIDA in Imo State during the occasion was indeed a wonderful way to show recognition and gratitude to those who made FIDA what it is today. I am grateful this association does not let hard work go unnoticed. My husband, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, and I were truly honored by the presentation of the Award of Honour for Excellence in Humanitarian Services.
Again, I want to applaud this association of powerful female Lawyers for the roles they continue to play in protecting the vulnerable from violence, promoting the Rights of all, *whilst* providing free legal services for indigent women and children, amongst other societal ills. I am proud of how far this association has come and I look forward to the noble plans it hopes to achieve soon.
