I appreciate the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of St. Hermanguild Foundation, Miss Constance Eze for collaborating with my office and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, on celebrating this year's #WorldMentalHealthDay at the State Rehabilitation Centre for the Destitutes at Umuneke, Ngor Okpala.
The St. Hermanguild Foundation raises awareness on the challenges facing mentally challenged people in our community and also advocates against the social stigma associated with patients. In collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, the foundation hopes to empower rehabilitated people to learn new skills and educate children in various schools across Imo State about keeping good mental health.
The 3R Administration has worked to ensure many patients receive adequate professional treatment, and is fully committed to ensuring that the remaining patients are treated as well. It was a pleasure to hear about the great work the principal of Umuneke rehabilitation center, Mr. Kingsley Nwanozie and his staff, have been doing to help patients get better.
The improvements of some patients were worth celebrating and at the end of the event, gifts, prayers, and awards were shared.
