In honour of World Breastfeeding Week 2021 themed: “Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility”, I planned a surprise visit to encourage the new and expectant mothers at Imo State Specialist Hospital, Umuguma.

The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu and I are grateful for the opportunity to extend a hand to the wonderful women in our community.

To the expectant mothers; I wish you all a safe delivery and to the new mothers; I say a big congratulation on your successful delivery and the recent addition to your homes.

As we offered them congratulatory gifts, sundry items and special prayers, they shared their heartfelt gratitude and prayers with us.

This gesture is to further reiterate our commitment and determination in ensuring the welfare of women and children in Imo State through the 3R Government.
