I was honoured to be the guest of honour at the Imo State University Chapter of the Law Students’ Association Law Dinner held on July 31st, where I was represented by Mrs. Nduka Ijeoma, wife of the Managing Director of the Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority. As an alumna of the university’s law faculty, I shared some words with them as they celebrated and reflected on the academic year. I encouraged them to view law as a calling that holds the keys to social justice, good governance, and economic progress; one that requires integrity as true equity. I urged them to build a reputation for honesty, excellence, and diligence while still in school. Despite the demanding nature of the journey, they should remember that pressure creates diamonds, and every late night spent studying is an investment in the legal mind they are becoming. I commended the students for their dedication to organizing the dinner and keeping the spirit of excellence alive in the faculty. I also advised the graduating class to prepare for the Nigerian Law School with courage, reminding them that they represent the pedigree of Imo State University, a heritage of resilience and brilliance destined to defend the defenseless, shape policy, and build a more equitable Imo State and Nigeria.
