Survivorship strengthens our resolve, and celebrating survivors is the victory cry that outlives fear. It tells every patient: you are more than a diagnosis, and your life after cancer matters. At the commemoration of National Cancer Survivors Month 2026, the First Ladies Against Cancer hosted a Cancer Survivors Gala on 26th June 2026 at the Imo State Banquet Hall. Under the theme ‘Celebrating Survivorship, Strengthening Systems,’ we were joined by distinguished guests including First Ladies of non-FLAC member states, friends of FLAC, cancer survivors, advocates, and people of goodwill. Together, we celebrated these remarkable individuals, listened to their survivorship journeys, and shared in their joy of triumph over one of life’s most daunting challenges. In a deeply moving highlight of the evening, cancer survivors took to the runway, modelling with grace, confidence, and joy, a demonstration that life beyond cancer is not just possible, but beautiful. We also supported twenty survivors through direct financial assistance, offering relief as they navigate life beyond their darkest days with cancer. Their lives are our evidence, their stories are our arguments, and their futures are our mission. We extend our gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event, to the Imo State Government for graciously hosting FLAC, and to the clothing designers, @luchizmiriano, @elchrisluxury and @churveclothing, for so graciously clothing our cancer survivors who modelled on the day. We also thank every partner, sponsor, and well-wisher whose support made this celebration possible. Together, we are building a future where no one faces cancer alone, where early detection saves lives, survivors are celebrated, and strengthened systems ensure every patient receives the care and dignity they deserve. 💚🎗️
