Children’s Day is a time to celebrate our children while honouring their innocence, nurturing their dreams, and protecting their future. They inspire hope, shape our tomorrow, and deserve love, guidance, and the opportunity to grow in a world that values and protects them. In line with the 2026 theme, ‘Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child,’ the Imo State Government, through my office, yesterday celebrated our children at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri. Represented by Her Excellency, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru PhD, Deputy Governor of Imo State, the event brought together children from schools across the 27 LGAs, including those from various orphanage homes. Filled with joy, smiles, and laughter, the children participated in games, traditional dances, debates, and spelling bee competitions, with prizes awarded to winners and all children in attendance. My sincere thanks go to Her Excellency, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru PhD, Deputy Governor of Imo State; Mrs. Pat Iwu, Wife of the Secretary to the State Government; Engr. Oby Anyaehie, Wife of the Chief of Staff; the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, led by Hon. Nkechinyere Ugwu UNJP; the Chairpersons of the 27 LGAs; and everyone who made the day truly memorable. We remain fully committed to sustaining their happiness, supporting their growth, and safeguarding their rights.
