Across Nigeria, countless Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) possess extraordinary business ideas, technical skills, and determination. Yet too often, they encounter financial barriers that prevent them from transforming their visions into viable enterprises.
On April 21, 2026, I had the honour of joining the Art for Ability Auction at the State House Auditorium, Abuja. The event was organised by the Ability Life Initiative (TALI), co-founded by my inspiring daughters, Prada Uzodimma and Oprah Uzodimma-Ohaeri, committed to dismantling barriers and creating pathways of economic empowerment for entrepreneurs with disabilities across Nigeria. Art has always possessed a unique capacity to transcend limitations, communicate what words cannot express, and challenge societal perceptions. I commend TALI for choosing art as the medium to advance this cause, reminding us that disability does not diminish talent, vision, or entrepreneurial spirit. Every piece showcased carries a story of resilience, creativity, and hope, representing a vote of confidence in a more inclusive Nigeria. True national development can only be achieved when every citizen, regardless of physical ability, has the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to our collective prosperity.
