In alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, I joined the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, and distinguished stakeholders for the landmark launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme. This initiative represents a decisive step towards advancing national food security and safeguarding the wellbeing of every Nigerian child, aiming to support 500,000 households within its first year. During her keynote address, Her Excellency emphasised that the programme is a cornerstone of the administration's drive to eradicate hunger. Developed in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, and the Bank of Industry, the initiative leverages strategic partnerships to ensure nutritious food reaches the most vulnerable populations. The launch was strengthened by remarkable philanthropy and inter-governmental cooperation. Her Excellency personally donated ₦500 million and commended major donors. Significant contributions include ₦10 billion from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited over five years, ₦500 million from the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, and matching ₦17 billion from both the Federal Government's Social Action Fund and the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF). Additionally, $500,000 was pledged by anonymous "Friends of Her Excellency". The Board of Trustees was inaugurated with the First Lady serving as Chairman and Ayodeji Sotinrin, Managing Director/CEO of the Bank of Agriculture, as Secretary. The board includes Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, Dr. Mansur Mokhtar, and Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King. As the programme expands across all six geopolitical zones, it stands as a transformative pathway towards eradicating malnutrition and fostering a healthier, more secure future for all Nigerians.
