At the Imo State Government House Chapel today, I joined my husband, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, GSGI, at a Thanksgiving Mass in gratitude for God’s grace and favour in the affairs of our state and for the success of the GoodHope Women Flourish Initiative Project Flourish 200. We reflected on the readings drawn from the Gospel of John 9:1—the story of the blind man who received his sight. It was a transformation that opened his eyes to truth, purpose, and possibility. Likewise, the second reading from St Paul’s letter to the Ephesians 5:8-14 challenged us to ‘live as children of light, for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true.’ Too often, we allow past failures, present challenges, or societal expectations to limit our vision of what is possible. We settle for mediocrity when excellence is within reach. As we enter this new week, let us be committed to choosing integrity over compromise, kindness over bitterness, and purpose over mediocrity for a future where goodness and truth flourish.
