As we commemorate yet another #DayoftheAfricanChild, I reiterate my resolve that every African Child deserves the right to a better life, by making conscious investments in their total well-being, in preparation for their take over of the mantle of leadership.
Today is also a day for sensitization on the protection and upholding of the rights and welfare of the African Child, as the International Day of the African Child (DAC) mainly aims at promoting children’s rights across all African countries.
The observance of this day is a constant reminder to Governments, NGOs and other Stakeholders of the challenges being faced by the African child and the need for their empowerment in all stages of their growth.
In line with this year's Theme, “30 Years after The Adoption of the Charter: Accelerate the Implementation of Agenda 2040 for an Africa fit for Children”, the African Committee recognizes the importance of today's celebration as an advocacy tool for enhancing the feasibility of the Charter as well as promoting the rights and welfare of the African Child.
