I joined Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, First Lady of Nigeria, at the 1st National Traditional and Religious Leaders Summit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, today. The event marked the flag-off of the National Advocacy and Awareness Campaign for the National Community Food Bank Programme, aimed at tackling child malnutrition nationwide. In her keynote address, Her Excellency stated that the programme is designed to strengthen community nutrition support, improve access to safe and nutritious food for vulnerable children, and contribute meaningfully to ending child malnutrition. She announced that her office will partner with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and other key stakeholders to launch the programme in April 2026. The initiative will operate through Primary Health Centres to register eligible families with children under six, providing caregivers with counselling and food vouchers redeemable for nutritious, locally grown foods at community food banks. Her Excellency emphasised the crucial role of traditional and religious leaders in ensuring no eligible family is left behind as the campaign begins nationwide, starting with the North-East Zone in Borno State. This reinforces her commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian child has the opportunity to grow and flourish.
