The historic proclamation of February 3rd, 1976, by the late General Murtala Muhammad, which created Imo State alongside six others, marked the beginning of a journey that has now spanned half a century. Our week-long celebration of this Golden Jubilee culminated yesterday, February 7th, 2026, with a grand finale at the Imo State Government House.

The event, which brought together Imolites, friends of the State, and well-wishers, featured the unveiling of the commemorative compendium, 'Imo At 50: The Full Story'. It also included the presentation of prizes to the 'Imo at 50' quiz winners and the conferment of honours upon distinguished sons and daughters of the state. I am especially proud of my husband, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, who was honoured with the Golden Star Governor of Imo State (GSGI).

We express our gratitude to all who joined us, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, represented by Vice President His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, and every Nigerian who holds Imo State dear to their heart. As we step into this new era, may our collective hope light the path toward an even more glorious Imo State.
