In line with our commitment to investing in the well-being, education, and protection of our girls and young people, and in commemoration of the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, the GoodHope Women Flourish Initiative organised a school drama competition on February 5, 2026, at Owerri City Secondary School. Guided by the global theme, “Towards 2030: No End to FGM Without Sustained Commitment and Investment,” students from selected secondary schools across Imo State used drama to speak powerfully about the harms of FGM, the courage required to speak up, and the urgent need to protect every girl’s rights and dignity. FGM has no justification. No girl should ever experience it. We congratulate Comprehensive Secondary School, Amakohia, for emerging as the overall winner and commend all participating schools. Your creativity and confidence demonstrate that young people are ready to lead the movement for change. We appreciate the Imo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, the Ministries of Health and Education, and UNFPA for their continued partnership and technical guidance. Together, through sustained commitment and investment, we will achieve an Imo State; and a Nigeria, free from FGM.
