For the second consecutive year, we align with the global theme, ‘United by Unique.’ We are united by a shared responsibility to ensure that no one faces cancer without support, dignity, and access to care. We are driven by a collective desire to see fewer families torn apart by this disease, a steadfast commitment to supporting those currently in the fight, and a vision of a Nigeria where cancer is detected early and treated effectively.
These sentiments formed my goodwill speech at the World Cancer Day 2026 Commemoration, organized by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare on February 4th, 2026, at the Rockview Hotel Royale, Abuja. Speaking on behalf of the First Ladies Against Cancer (FLAC), I highlighted our organization’s vital roles in advancing cancer care across Nigeria.
As we unite in our unique purposes and responsibilities toward cancer control, we must accelerate progress toward a Nigeria where cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care are accessible to all, regardless of income or location. Together, we shall turn the tide against cancer and build a future defined by health, hope, and healing.
