The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) has consistently stood as a pillar of hope for women and children across Nigeria. Here in Imo State, their impact has been nothing short of remarkable. I was honoured to deliver the Keynote Address at the 2025 FIDA Imo State Branch FIDA Week and 46th Anniversary Opening Ceremony on December 12, 2025. I was represented at this event by the Clerk / Head of Legislative Service, Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Chinelo Adaora Emeghara. The theme of this year's celebration, "FIDA Imo: 46 years of promotion and preservation of women and children's rights—the way forward," is exceptionally fitting. I noted that this theme challenges us to reflect on the journey so far while charting a course for the future; it calls us to celebrate achievements while acknowledging the substantial work that still lies ahead. I warmly congratulate FIDA on their 46th Anniversary and encourage you to continue pressing forward with even greater determination. While the challenges facing women and children in our society remain significant, they are not insurmountable. Thank you for standing with the vulnerable, fighting for the marginalized, and refusing to be silent in the face of injustice.
