Owerri, the capital city of Imo State, hosted world leaders, CEOs, and investors converging for the Imo Economic Summit 2025; a two-day premier platform designed to showcase Imo State's vast potential and transform the state into a magnet for foreign and domestic investment.
I joined my husband, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, Executive Governor of Imo State, in welcoming our distinguished guests to the opening ceremony on December 4, 2025. The ceremony featured an impressive array of high-level speakers, including His Excellency Ban Ki-moon, 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations; Rt. Hon. Boris Johnson, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom; Her Excellency Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, first female President of Mauritius; His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, represented by His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; His Excellency Joseph Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia; Alh. Aliko Dangote, GCON, President of Dangote Group; Mr. Wale Edun, Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy; and Professor Benedict Oramah, immediate past President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank). The ceremony also had in attendance His Excellency Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State; His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, Governor of Nasarawa State; His Excellency Biodun Oyebanji, Governor of Ekiti State; and other esteemed guests.
The Imo Economic Summit 2025 reflects the international confidence in Imo State's vision and potential toward economic prosperity and global competitiveness, setting the tone for the partnerships and commitments which will catalyze sustainable economic growth, create employment opportunities, and improve the quality of life for all Imo residents.
