I officially flagged off the 2025 Second Round of the Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) Week on December 2, 2025, at the Imo State Primary Health Care Development Agency Playground, Owerri. As a mother, this moment was especially meaningful to me, as it reaffirmed our commitment to protecting the health and well-being of our mothers, newborns, and young children. Early childhood development; rooted in proper nutrition, immunization, and regular check-ups, is vital to ensuring that every child grows up healthy and reaches their full potential. MNCH Week offers an integrated package of predominantly preventive services that are not only essential but also highly cost-effective in improving the survival and overall well-being of mothers and children. In line with the approval of the National Council on Health for its bi-annual observance, this year’s flag-off marks yet another step toward creating a healthier future for our families. I encourage all mothers and caregivers to fully utilize the important health services available throughout this week. Every child deserves the chance to grow healthy, strong, and well-nourished; an aspiration that becomes increasingly attainable when we make the most of the interventions provided during MNCH Week. My gratitude extends to my husband, H.E. Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma, CON; the State Ministry of Health; the Executive Secretary of ISPHCDA, @kosilisochukwu; our invaluable partners - UNICEF, Vitamin Angels, and Corona Management Systems; and all other dedicated Stakeholders whose tireless efforts continue to strengthen and amplify the impact of health programmes in our State. Together, we remain deeply committed to safeguarding the lives and well-being of our mothers, newborns, and children.
