CERVICAL CANCER ELIMINATION DAY OF ACTION (#CCEDayOfAction) 2025
Today, First Ladies Against Cancer (FLAC) stands together raising one voice, one message, and one commitment: Cervical cancer must be eliminated in Nigeria, and we will not relent until that becomes a reality. Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable forms of cancer. With HPV vaccination, regular screening, and timely treatment, thousands of lives can be saved every year. Yet far too many women still face barriers to care. This is why FLAC has remained at the forefront—driving advocacy, mobilizing communities, influencing policies, and ensuring that women and girls across Nigeria have access to lifesaving cancer prevention and treatment services. Over the years, FLAC has championed national campaigns, supported cancer centers, partnered with governments and development agencies, and amplified the call for strengthened health systems that prioritize women’s health. Our First Ladies have used their platforms to reach millions, bringing hope, awareness, and action to communities across the country.
On this Cervical Cancer Elimination Day of Action, we are renewing our commitment: -Every girl should be vaccinated. -Every woman should be screened. -Every patient should receive timely treatment.
Now is the time for every stakeholder—government, health workers, parents, community leaders, and civil society—to join forces. Eliminating cervical cancer in Nigeria is possible, but it requires action from all of us.
Let’s protect our girls, empower our women, and secure a cervical cancer–free Nigeria.
