To strengthen Nigeria's response to Hepatitis B and C through enhanced community engagement and active involvement of state actors, the Nigeria Governors' Spouses' Forum, in collaboration with the Honourable Coordinating Minister of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, CON, convened a one-day First Ladies' National Hepatitis Summit in Abuja today.
With the objectives of raising awareness about the burden of viral Hepatitis B and C in Nigeria, strengthening multi-sectoral dialogue, and renewing collective commitments toward their elimination, I joined my colleagues of the Nigeria Governors' Spouses' Forum at the summit, which featured State Commissioners of Health in a special panel session. They shared valuable insights, challenges, and innovative approaches to improving Hepatitis B and C prevention and care at the subnational level.
Together, we remain committed to championing health initiatives that protect our people. We will continue to advocate for accessible healthcare, increased screening, and comprehensive support systems toward achieving the 2030 elimination goals for viral hepatitis across Nigeria, ensuring healthier and safer communities for all.
