I joined the First Lady of Nigeria and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, on September 23, 2025, at a Lunch with the Press at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where she called on all Nigerians to rise up and play their parts in building the nation.
Speaking on the claims that her 65th birthday fundraiser towards the completion of the National Library was politically motivated, she referenced her past efforts, which include raising ₦50 million for the National Sickle Cell Foundation and ₦200 million for the New Era Foundation at her 45th and 50th birthdays respectively. She explained that the National Library is not just a project but a national treasure that will serve generations to come.
She announced that the 65th birthday fundraiser has realized ₦20.7 billion, and the Oluremi@65 Education Fund will remain open until December 2025 for more donations. The fund has received donations so far from President Bola Tinubu, VP Kashim Shettima and his wife, former leaders, governors, and business moguls including Aliko Dangote, Abdulsamad Rabiu, Tony Elumelu, Jim Ovia, Arthur Eze, and many more.
.She reassured that with collective effort and the support of the President Bola Tinubu's administration, the library will be completed within two years, having been stalled since 1981 when it was first initiated.
