Today, we mark the International Day of Living Together in Peace 👩🏾🤝👨🏻🕊 2021.
This day, observed annually on May 16, was officially recognized by the UN-General Assembly in December 2017 to emphasize the importance of living and acting together in harmony as well as acknowledging the differences and diversity across people, cultures, race, gender, colour, etc, in order to build a peaceful world.
Living together in peace promotes tolerance, solidarity, harmony and understanding.
The day also focuses on encouraging forgiveness and compassion amongst people, and promoting actions towards a more peaceful future. We can live together in peace on this shared planet by embracing differences, through solidarity, unity, and most of all, compassion.
We can live together in peace on this shared planet by embracing differences, through solidarity, unity, and most of all, compassion and by having the ability to listen to, respect and appreciate dissenting views and opinions.
Let us all observe this day by recognizing, accepting, celebrating our unity in diversity and championing a world of sustainable peace & solidarity.
