The Deputy High Commissioner, Mrs Gill Lever Obe, hosted a dinner on September 3, 2025, where I joined fellow Nigerian First Ladies and Parliamentarians ahead of the ongoing Gender and Inclusion Summit.

Our discussions focused on the Special Seats Bill currently before the National Assembly and on celebrating women’s leadership in Nigeria. Once passed, this landmark legislation will create additional seats for women in both the National and State Assemblies, ensuring broader representation and strengthening women’s voices in governance and decision-making. The gathering was graced by the British High Commissioner, Richard Montgomery; Rt. Hon. Deputy Speaker, Ben Kalu; Hajiya Fatima Tajudeen Abbas, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives; wives of NASS members from across all Nigeria’s geopolitical zones; and other dignitaries.
