On this World Hepatitis Day, July 28th, we stand united in the fight against viral hepatitis, a disease that affects millions, yet remains largely preventable and treatable.
Hepatitis affects people of all ages and backgrounds, causing inflammation of the liver that can lead to serious complications including liver disease, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. The 2025 commemoration theme, "Let Us Break It Down," focuses on collective action to break down the barriers to prevention, care, and the cure of hepatitis through increased vaccination rates, comprehensive testing campaigns, and eliminating discrimination against those affected. Together, we can work toward a hepatitis-free future. Today and every day, let us break down barriers, achieve hepatitis elimination, and make hepatitis history.
