Today, June 13th, we commemorate World Albinism Awareness Day and honour people with albinism. This year's theme, 'Demanding Our Rights: Protect Our Skin, Preserve Our Lives', reminds us that protecting skin is not just about health. It highlights preventing skin cancer through awareness and sunscreen access, preserving lives and ensuring dignity. People with albinism face challenges beyond medical issues, exposing them to life-threatening vulnerabilities. In many communities, harmful myths and discrimination compound these dangers, denying their basic rights and participation in society. Every person with albinism deserves to live without fear, whether from UV exposure or discrimination. They deserve equal opportunities to live and pursue their dreams safely. This World Albinism Awareness Day, let us amplify voices, challenge barriers, and commit to a world where protecting skin and preserving lives are not privileges but guaranteed rights. #WorldAlbinismAwarenessDay
