Today, in Enugu, I joined my sisters, the Renewed Hope Initiative State Coordinators, to welcome Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for the presentation of 10,000 professional kits (comprising scrubs and Crocs) to midwives across the South East Geopolitical Zone. During her courtesy visit to traditional rulers in Enugu State, on the sideline of the two day working visit to the state, Her Excellency described the traditional rulers as the eyes and ears of government at the grassroots level. She appealed to them to align with her vision of promoting the health and wellbeing of their subjects by supporting her advocacy campaigns against cervical cancer, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and Female Genital Mutilation. At the venue for the presentation of professional kits to midwives in the South East Geopolitical Zone, the First Lady expressed satisfaction at concluding the nationwide distribution of scrubs and Crocs across all six geopolitical zones, with Enugu marking the completion of this exercise. In his remarks, His Excellency Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Governor of Enugu State, commended the First Lady as the Florence Nightingale of our time, acknowledging her exceptional responsiveness to pressing health issues and lauding President Tinubu's dedication to healthcare advancement. The visit also featured the presentation of a N50 million Business Re-capitalization Grant to 1,000 women petty traders in Enugu State under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
